The Port Huron Statement by Tom Hayden. This is an important document to the New Left of the 1960s. Though it contains many good critiques of the USA like the inequality of blacks and the use of nuclear weapons, it calls for a democratic socialist society.

The ideas seem tame, but how do I know that the New Left is not an evolutionary socialist party? They reject Communism, especially the Soviet model, but what exactly is their goal? I still have a lot of research to do. Is this the Third Way? A tactic to bring socialist to power?
