Civic Platform
The Civic Platform party beat out the Conservative Party in Poland in their election for Prime Minister. The leader is Donald Tusk. He wants out of Iraq, but wants “the U.S. Patriot short range and anti-aircraft missile system . . . to beef up its own national defenses.” Ok.
While I don’t agree with their decision to get out of Iraq, I think that is I were in Poland I would vote for the Civic Platform Party. I think the Republican Party of the USA needs to become more economically liberal as in a classical liberal or what is more popularly known as libertarian. The newspapers are emphasizing how this party wants the troops out of Iraq, instead of their very libertarian ideas which is a shame. Poland is still a very close ally to the USA. With Russia as a neighbor they would be stupid not to be. In time, Donald Tusk will get a dose of reality. Politicians will say anything to get elected.
This is what the Civic Platform stands for: (from Wikipedia)
