Mattie Emeline Sheppard
17. Mattie Emeline Sheppard was born on September 11, 1875 in Pickens County, South Carolina. She died on MArch 19, 1956 in Six Mile, Pickens, South Carolina. She is the daughter of Doctor Overton Sheppard and Harriet Josephine Frasier.
She married John James Lee on September 28, 1892 when she was 17 years old. She attended a Baptist Church. She made education a priority and all of her children went to college except for the youngest who had Down’s Syndrome. All of her family lived in South Carolina, except one sister who lived in California.
