Some Genealogy Rules

Posted on June 29th, 2008 in Genealogy by Ambar

This is from Unpuzzling your Past from Emily Anne Croom:

1. Work from the known to the unknown

2. Do not try to skip back in time too soon

3. Gather clues from one generation’s  records before trying to move to the previous one.

I have broken all three rules with dire consequences. Once I had to spend two hours erasing names off of my mother’s family tree. Lesson learned!
