This is something that I have done the past few months that works. I keep stocked UHT milk, the type of milk you can shelve along with powdered and evaporated milk. I stock up on that during times that I have little extra money so when money gets tight I use the UHT milk. That way I don’t have to constantly go to the grocery for a milk run. I also buy egg beaters and put them in the freezer in case I run out of eggs and don’t have time or gas to make an egg run. There is also always an extra loaf of bread in the refrigerator.

What exactly is UHT milk? I’ve never heard of it. I know some people who mix the milk powder into regular milk to make the powder stuff taste better and stretch the milk.
