I Earned an Idiot Pass
My family and I took a little excursion to downtown Louisville, a mere 10 minute drive from my home if you go by freeway. Our first stop was the beautiful and fun Water Front Park. This park is right outside of downtown and overlooks the Ohio River. There is a huge playground built with a riverboat theme, sprinklers for the kids to play in, and a sandbox. The kids had a lot of fun while hubby and I dared each other to run through the sprinklers without getting wet.
We stayed for an hour and decided it was time to go on to our next destination, Fourth Street Live. As we walked up the hill to our van, I noticed my husband fumbling around looking for the keys. Walking closer to the van I heard an engine on and then the my husband ask, “Did I leave the van running?” Sure enough, the keys were still in the ignition and the engine was still running. The good news is that the car wasn’t stolen so I guess that tells you something about Louisville.
I didn’t yell or scream. I didn’t lecture. All I could do was laugh. I looked up at my husband, smiled and said, “I just earned my idiot pass. Next time I do something stupid, you remember this.”
We both laughed and I guess we were just happy that the car didn’t get stolen and that everything was ok. We enjoyed the rest of our day. Until I lost my wallet for a little while. I thought I would have to use my idiot pass but luckily I found my wallet. It had fallen out of my bag while I was in my livingroom.
So I still have my idiot pass.
