A Proclamation to the World

As many of you know, I will be moving soon. Moving is very stressful especially when you have three little children, one who is in school. Add the fact that your husband has been underemployed for the past 6 months and still doesn’t know what to do and it really puts a strain on your marriage.

I have a framed copy of “A Proclamation to the World” in my bedroom on my dresser. I read it from time to time to remind me of what I need to do. It gives me advice on what to do to improve my marriage or improve my life in general. Reading it gave me some advice on how to handle my current situation.

In the seventh paragraph it says, “Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentence, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.” I realize that I need to focus a little more on those principles.

I am thankful that we have “A Proclamation to the World”. It is simple guidance for every family in a confusing time when children are told they are smarter than there parents, men are stupid, and women have to do it all. It will help me remember what is important as I go through this tough time in my own family.
