Pursuit of Excellence
I went to a Relief Society Enrichment meeting last night. It was the first time I went to church in about three weeks because of all of our illness. I was really glad to go to the activity because the theme was “Back to Basics”. The basics are the things we learned in Primary and Young Women’s. Things like prayer, reading scriptures, going to church, genealogy, FAmily Home Evening, etc. We took a “tour” of the Book of Mormon. Then we were given a “Personal Progress” book to work on until March. Once we complete the “Personal Progress” book we will get a reward from the Relief Society. WE had to make goals in the categories of Spiritual, Physical, Character, Intellectual, and Service.
I love the idea because at this point in life I need a challenge to put my life back in order. I decided to work on going to the temple, cut back on soda and junk food and do yoga everyday, stop yelling and calling my husband names, study and practice Russian and Latin everyday, do a better job with my visiting teaching, and visit my grandmother in Kingston, TN. I also want to write a post in my blog everyday. I think that will help me keep in touch with my family members. The last goal I have is to have a birthday party for my daughter on February 9.
A quote from the booklet: “The Lord does not wish to overwhelm you, but to give you practice at setting and schieving worthwile goals. That is why this is called “The Pursuit of Excellence”.
What would be your goals in your “Pursuit of Excellence” book for the next three months?
