A Letter From Ida Majors
This is a letter dated June 30, 1898. It was written by Ida Pope Majors one of my ancestors.
Dear Aunt Minnie,
An awful accident occurred yesterday. Daughter and I went to pick a few berries for supper when I came back, “Oh me! How sad!” One of those quadrupeds called “horses” had stepped on my darling’s foot. I bound it with cotton and then with a rag. He has been suffering severely. I suppose you know my darling is my little pet chicken, Henry. Daughter and I slept on a pallet made for three last night. We are expecting to have a grand concert tonight and will send you a program.
I will close because I am afraid Daughter and I will write the same thing.
Yours affectionately, Ida Majors
P.S. I told Daughter to tell you I was writing to my sweetheart to keep her from knowing I was writing to you. She saw me begin with “Dear A” and of course said I was writing to Alonso Klutts, the very idea! I hope you all had a pleasant trip and you won’t get sick. IdaP.S. Give my love to Aunt Guy and the baby and all the rest.
Ida
Unfortunately, I cannot find a picture of her.
I just started a genealogy site Our Family Enjoy! Of course the best place to go for genealogy is ancestry.com. It is well worth the money and searching for your ancestors can be as much fun as watching a movie!

What a great idea! I’ll have to show this to JJ.
