Back to the Gym
I am not completely recovered from my bronchitis but I decided to go back to the gym this week. My BMI is finally in a healthy range and I want to continue to strengthen my body. I went Monday afternoon because Monday morning I had to go to the store. There is free childcare so the kids had fum. I did not try the zumba class again. Instead I did weights and I went on the cycle. I “rode” 3 miles in 16 minutes. I almost threw up again but made it through.
Today I did the yoga pilates class. I realized that my left leg is very weak still. I am flexible and have great balance, but my muscles are so weak. I did the yoga fine but struggled through the pilates. During one stretch I discovered I split my pants. This was a move where you do front splits in the air so the split was well visible. I decided to do the modified easy version so that no one would see the split. I still cannot do hover position and was unable to do the bicycle because it hurt my back too much.
Yesterday, I went to the little Afghan store in front of the gym to get Jon Jon his favorite bread. Afghan bread is delicious! I heard the owner speak and recognized some of the words. I told Aziz last night that the owners might have been speaking Uzbek. He asked me, “which dialect?” as if I would know the difference. That store is one of Jon Jon’s favorites and he always asks me to go there to get his bread.
Today will be easier because Aziz doesn’t have Arabic class though he will have to do homework. Perhaps he and Victoria can do homework together. Last night he helped Victoria with her homework, shocked that the teachers aren’t as strict as they were in the old Soviet schools he went to where sloppy writing would get your hand smacked with a ruler and dirty nails were cause for you to be sent home.
